Music: Baccara – Yes Sir, I Can Boogie
Drink: Milk (with my cookies)
I see your face in front of me, you’re in my every dream…In every feverish fantasy, scary how real you seem…
Sorry I didn’t update all weekend, been in emotional turmoil 😦 Those of you that know me best know what I mean…Sigh. But trying to remember I am SO blessed to have so many people in my life who do love me 🙂
Duchess Kate is pregnant! YAY! All I could think about was Harry…with the baby, he is just THAT MUCH MORE off the hook to ever be King! Haha! Poor Kate is having terrible morning sickness, but it was so nice of her to call me to give me the good news…
Stayed at home a lot this weekend, more so than usual which was pretty nice. I have been working on redecorating my spare room now that my roommate moved out. It is SO nice to have that closet back! I have all my winter clothes, suits, and blazers in there now. So nice to be able to find stuff again! AND I cleaned out the garage on Sunday…now that my roommate’s stuff is out of there (AND his ex’s stuff he was keeping in MY garage), I can fit BOTH my cars in my garage! Its SO nice.I painted all the furniture for that room a flat white and did the hardware in a high gloss black so it really pops. I had never painted furniture before…IT SUCKS.
I found bedding that had the same muted lime green color I have throughout my house, and the underside of the comforter is a soft gray, and the accent pillow has a darker gray color on it. The sheets and drapes are the exact dark gray that is in the accent pillow, and the walls match the underside of the comforter. I really lucked out finding coordinating pieces! I tried to play up more of the black (since all the colors in my house are the muted lime green, black, and white) with accent pillows and accent pieces. After a lot of work, and getting paint EVERYWHERE, it turned out exactly how I envisioned!
I did go out Saturday night. My friends Mike and Meredith are getting married in less than two weeks! Mike’s bachelor party is this weekend in Atlanta, but I can’t attend because I will be throwing my annual Christmas wine and cheese party. My best bud Jon can’t go either, so we took Mike out on Saturday night for a little mini guy’s night, and we ended up at Dave & Busters, an arcade/bar/restaurant down by all the tourist attractions.
Mike, Jon, and I ate and drank some amazing drinks this awesome bartender made us. He could put a toothpick in his mouth, throw a cherry in the air and catch it on the toothpick! I couldn’t believe it. Best bartender I have EVER seen, apparently he competes and stuff in bartending competitions. And at Dave & Busters, who would have thought?!
Obviously male bonding went on, cuz thats what you do at a bachelor party, even a mini one. I haven’t laughed so hard in a LONG time…we had some, um…interesting conversations. Lets just say we all learned a LOT about each other. I seriously love both those guys so much, and I hope Mike had a good time. I obviously can’t divulge the conversations we had, but I will give you a tidbit…use your imagination, but you’ll NEVER guess 😉
Brandon: Did I know you when you were doing this?!?
Mike: (thinks for a sec) Oh yeah!
Brandon: Did you tell Meredith what you were doing when she asked you?!
Mike: Oh yeah!
Brandon: (EXPLODES into laughter)
So we played arcade games, we really love the coin pusher games. At one point Mike and I were playing, and the tickets just kept POURING out. And out of the blue at one point, this girl that was like 12 comes up to Jon and is just like ‘Hey can I have your tickets?’. Obviously we told her no. Like, seriously?
I told Mike he needed to win 11,00 tickets to win me this remote control car…
He didn’t win it for me though 😦 So we milled around, played game after game, and drank here and there. Then I saw this girl sitting alone, and felt bad for her…
Dave & Busters is so fun, I couldn’t imagine why she wasn’t having a good time. I guessed she was probably there with her brother and his new girlfriend, and their mom made him bring her cuz ‘Shelly ain’t get out no more.’ I should have made her my friend.
Here is where this all gets interesting…
So after drinks and laughs, its time to head home, and we walk outside and I call a cab. Within a few minutes, a taxi pulls up and we assume its ours so we get in it. A few minutes after being in the cab, the number I called to order the cab is calling me. I look down at my phone and say “Oh crap, this must not have been our cab!”, and as I go to answer Mike says “Put it on speaker phone!” So I do. This is what transpired, over speaker phone, with me, Mike, Jon, and our cabdriver in the car:
Cabdriver: Hi, is this Brandon? I am at Dave and Busters…is your party ready?
Me: Hi, I am so sorry, we are already in a cab…one pulled up and we thought it was the one I ordered. I am so sorry.
Cabdriver: Ok man, you know what you need to do?
Cabdriver: You need to choke your cabdriver, then stab him to death. And just stay put and I’ll come pick you up.
Me: …..Um….Um…I’m not doing that….
Cabdriver: Just playin, you have a good night.
YES, THAT HAPPENED. We were like “WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT?!?! Did that just happen!?” I even asked our cabdriver “Are we on a hidden camera show or something!?” It was SO crazy.
SO THEN, I am still trying to figure out what that was all about, and we are driving through downtown Orlando at like 1am or something in our cab, and we are stopped at a light in not the greatest area. People are walking down the street and then we hear “Bang! Pop pop pop pop! Bang bang pop!”, yes GUNFIRE. SHOTS. GUNS. We were like OH SHIT OH SHIT! Mike and I were in the backseat and we ducked down, trying to also look out the window to determine what the heck was going on. My ears got red hot and I totally went into survival mode…it was the strangest feeling…my heart was racing, ducked in the backseat, my ears were hot and I just knew in that moment I would do anything physically possible, anything I had to do to stay alive. I was terrified! Then we heard the same rounds of gunfire, still stopped at the light…Pop pop pop pop pop pop! Where was it coming from!? My mind was clear but I was terrified, not knowing what was about to happen. I had never been so scared, and yet so prepared to do anything I needed to do, it was the strangest feelings running through me but I was also the most terrified I had ever been.
We then determined that the car behind us had something on their exhaust to make it sound like a machine gun. Assholes. I asked our cabdriver AGAIN if this was a TV show or something. This is a picture I took of myself just afterwards, in the back of the cab after being scared to death.
Sunday was working around the house, and I finished my projects in the garage and the spare room, and put out my Christmas lights on my house.
After a full day around the house, I rewarded myself with yummy Chinese food from my local Chinese place, China Fun. And also ended the night with milk and cookies, like always.
Its always kinda sad when I order Chinese, cuz I only order for me, party of 1…but they always give me two fortune cookies, and I never have anyone to give the second one too 😦
Had dinner with my mom tonight, and been home on the couch since. My annual wine and cheese party is SATURDAY! WOOT WOOT! SO much to do, and buy. Oh boy. And if you read my earlier posts about my stove door, I STILL haven’t fixed it! UGH! But SO excited to have all my friends over for my big annual party 🙂
Goodnight disco stars, wishing you champagne wishes and caviar dreams.
