There’s a place and a time, summer comes and you need someone, the way I’m feeling right now, I can’t wait for the summer sun…Now you’ve broken the ice, take me to paradise…
Wow. I am exhausted. What a cruise! What a weekend! Whoa.
My house is a disaster from packing, being gone 6 or 7 days, then coming back and not being home all weekend. It looks like I’ve been robbed. My room is about as organized as a Walmart $5 DVD bin.
Last Friday, the day before my cruise for Andrew and Amy’s wedding, I drove down to Tampa after work to see my dear friend Michelle from college. She made us an AMAZING dinner and I ate so much I almost got sick. It was DELICIOUS and I hadn’t had a home cooked meal in so long! We laughed, and reminisced, and dished on people we knew and used to know.
We caught up over some good chianti and I got to see her husband Jamie and her GORGEOUS kids, who are just the cutest things ever. After lunch with them on Saturday, I was off to board the ship. Well, I had a ton of trouble finding the parking place I had reserved my spot at and REALLY started to panic. Siri was no help at ALL, as usual. After sweating and driving in circles, to the point construction workers were laughing at me, seeing me circling many times hunched over my steering wheel, I finally found the place.
My hangers which held my suit and tuxedo I was carrying on in my garment bag broke walking on the ship. Wooden hangers! Broke! What the hell. I was so worried my stuff would be wrinkled. But once on board, I found my roomies who I had never met before, and we wondered around the ship for a while and I was introduced to so many people from Los Angeles it was a blur. There were 96 of us on board for this wedding! Epic! I met some cool people and we started the party, me with a Mai Tai.
That first night on board, I met The Fabulous Five. I saw them when I boarded the ship, they were all wearing ‘Fabulous Five’ t shirts, but I didn’t know I’d soon become their favorite guy on board 😉
I was in the Vortex dance club, and in walked 5 of the most beautiful women you had ever seen! I was lucky enough to dance with them that night, and every other night. And oh wow…did we dance. Thankfully we were in international waters, cuz some of our moves may have been illegal. Luckily, they live in Lakeland so I hope to hang out with them so we can do brunch. One even got awarded most beautiful woman on the ship! Every time we saw each other on the ship, we’d all scream and hug, they were just the most fun girls ever!
At one point one night, me and about 20 people in our wedding crew were sitting at a bar, and in walked The Fabulous Five and I didn’t see them at first, but they started yelling my name all excitedly, and I ran up and hugged all of them and everyone was like ‘Who are these women and how does Brandon know them?!’
I think my favorite memories with them was when I dancing in my tuxedo with them, and they were in their formal dresses, and we danced to Poppin’ Tags. Another was we were all dancing to The Wobble, and then realized at the end of the song everyone else on the dance floor was line dancing to it but we were just in our own little world, totally not knowing it was a line dance song. We laughed so hard together, my face was wet with tears at one point. I tried to take notes at the time about what we were laughing about…
I don’t know what “Song GT40” means. If anyone has any ideas, please email me.
The first night we all partied in the Vortex lounge till the wee morning hours.
The wedding day in Key West was gorgeous. We got off the boat and a little train trolley took all of us to the ceremony venue, which was on beach with all the chairs under palm trees.
They had a guy playing a steel drum, along with a ukulele player. I can’t post any of the pictures from the ceremony or receptions, as the happy couple wants to be the first to release their photos, which is how it should be. I will post them once I get the green-light 🙂 Although most of my pics with Andrew and Amy are from this day. You will see them soon though 🙂 The ceremony was sweet, fun, honest, humble, and moving. I wept behind my sunglasses. Andrew and Amy looked amazing as always.
After a really fun lunch reception at a boat marina, it was time to get back on the ship.
I got into my tux for formal night, and ate dinner with everyone.
We had about 10 tables of 10 in the main dining room, so we all got to sit wherever we wanted to each night. I met so many fabulous LA people – some were personal assistants to the stars, some are currently on TV shows, movies, etc. So LA chic 😉 That night was a private reception on board for us, so the party continued way into the night. I reconnected with an old friend that night, and renewed our friendship 🙂
Once again, we partied on!
The next day we were at sea, and so that meant pool day!
I think almost all of us were at the pool, it was a sea of straw hats and fedoras as far as the eye could see. You couldn’t turn around on board without running into someone in our party, I am definitely visiting them all in LA soon! I thought since I didn’t know a lot of people going, I would be alone most of the time and rest and read. That didn’t happen! Everyone was SO nice and welcoming and cool, I barely got any sleep because I just wanted to hang out with everyone! Some memorable quotes are:
“Have you ever licked it? Or spat on it?!”
“They call that a belly bracelet.”
“Where have you guys been on this trip? I should have told you about my flipping ability sooner.”
“There’s a hole in one joke in there somewhere.”
A few nights, we had wine time in Marco’s room after dinner which was super fun, kinda nice to have a low key start of the evening.
That night was a deck party, and they announced Andrew’s birthday to the ship and had him and his new bride dance on the deck alongside the couple on the boat that had been married the longest (63 years). It was super sweet. Then they had Andrew lead the conga line! Party on, party people!
That night on the deck, I watched a Jamaican dude and a Scottish girl argue about whether or not their accents sounded the same. It was INSANE. I couldn’t believe this was happening in front of me, they both sounded IDENTICAL! Crazy. I took 5 minutes of video.
The next day was Cozumel, and most of us decided to go to Playa Mia, a private beach I had been to before. For $60-70, you get on the beach, have a chair, all you can eat and drink, and there are water trampolines, snorkel gear, a rock climbing thing in the water, anything you could want! It was so nice to just chill out and relax. We took taxi vans there, and in ours I was in the back with my new friend Kristina, and someone in the front took the cabby’s iphone and put on some Mexican tunes, and we ALL exploded into dance in this van the minute the music came on, and Kristina turned to me and was like “This dude must HATE Americans…” I was DYING it was so funny!
We got back on the ship, and got ready for dinner and to party the night away again.
We hung out in a bar and chilled, and Melissa wanted to play slots and left and 10 minutes later, came back with jackpot winnings! It was UNREAL!
The next day was another day at sea, which was spent in the water with more drinks.
That night a few of us went to a special dining restaurant on the ship and enjoyed some amazing steak, wine, and a lot of laughs. We played Never Have I Ever at dinner, I am sure the waiters didn’t know what to think of us. And The Fabulous Five were there for dinner too!
That night, we played beer pong with Corona on the pool deck, and made our rounds to say goodbye to all of our new friends we all had made.
I got two hours of sleep that night, and then got off the ship that morning. So sad all the fun was over. I didn’t even get to say goodbye to Andrew and Amy! I shall see them again soon I hope 🙂
Of course, scandalous and other things happened that I can not speak of in a public forum.
😉 😉 😉
I have been trying to rest up, I got no rest! But it was worth it.
Had a fun weekend this past weekend too – friend in town, Kentucky Derby party, brunch. I will blog about all that later this week.
Been brushing up on my French again, and trying to learn some Swedish for my trip in July! Its getting closer! I hope I can take a little cruise around the Stockholm archipelago. I have been buying so many new clothes its getting a little ridiculous.
Nothing else going on this week, and nothing coming up soon either which is nice. I need to work on my house and organize and clean!
