I really don’t have too much planned for the month of June. Hmm. Maybe I should plan another little weekend trip. Can I come visit YOU? Booking my Paris/Stockholm tickets next week as well for July, so excited to be back in my favorite city, and then explore a new one. My latest travel magazine had articles on the new bistros in Paris as well as all the good food spots in Sweden and Stockholm!
My bestie Liz in France, whom I am going there to visit, informed me recently that she sings to her ADORABLE child, Raphael, this song everyday, to the tune of My Bonnie (Lies Over the Ocean):
My Brandon lies over the ocean, my Brandon lies over the sea!
My Brandon lies over the ocean, oooh bring back Monsieur Brandon to me!
Bring back, bring back oh bring back Monsieur Brandon to me, to me!
Bring back, bring back oh bring back Monsieur Brandon to me!
Is that not the sweetest thing ever?! When she told me that my heart totally melted.
Here is the cute Raphael:
I was so excited to be in the sun so much this past weekend. After work on Friday I cruised over to Jon and Jill’s, and with little Carter in the car we were off to Ft. Lauderdale for the weekend.
We stayed a great place called Il Lugano on the Intracoastal, and had an ocean view too. The moon was amazing that night…
Upon getting there, Carter was put to bed and Jill, Jon and I ordered room service.
Adult contemporary music was on low in the living room when we arrived in the room, and it was kinda nice having it on so we left it. We opened a bottle of wine and sat around the table, talking softly as to not wake the baby in the next room, listening to our easy, relaxing music. Delilah was on, it was quite nice, haha! Jill ordered two glasses of milk along with room service, for Carter of course. So the waiter comes in with our food, and sees us talking quietly, sitting with our wine, listening to Delilah, and serves us our burgers and milk. There is no baby in sight, so after he left, Jill goes:
Jill: Wow, we probably look so lame right now, ordering milk with our dinner and listening to Delilah. I am sure he probably thought it was for us. Gotta have our glass of milk a day, haha!
Me: We probably looked like the nicest, most typical white people ever. This is so peaceful though, sitting listening to our soft adult contemporary with our wine.
Jon: It’s like the start to a bad Lifetime movie.
Maybe you had to be there, but OMG it was SO HILARIOUS.
The next morning we got up and Jon’s sister joined us so we could celebrate her birthday with her.
We had a little breakfast outside at a café near the hotel, then went back for pool time and Carter had a blast in the water. The weather was PERFECT! And the bartender made some very yummy birthday drinks for us.
Then Jessica then joined us, and it was off the beach after a short food run to McDonald’s.
We got to the beach, and Jon was trying to convince Jill to go out on a jetski with him, but she didn’t want to leave Carter…
Jill: Jon, one of us has to be here to watch Carter.
Jon’s Sister Jill: We can watch him, there will still be three responsible adults here to look after him!
Jessica: (looking at me) Well, 2 and a HALF responsible adults!
Me: OH I JUST KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO SAY THAT!
Oh, that girl. The night I met her, we were all hanging out at Jon and Jill’s house, and we had all been out and about earlier that night together. We were all watching TV in the family room, and I was like, there’s someone missing here…So I said “Hey, where’d that girl go??” and from in the kitchen, looking right at us, Jessica is like “UM, I’m RIGHT HERE!”
I spent most of my time at the beach trying to keep sand off my beach towel, because I am OCD like that.
After a VERY hot time at the beach, it was back to the pool at the hotel. We laid on the little covered cabana loungers for a while and watched all the boats go by on the intracoastal. As badly as I want to move to Paris, Florida isn’t too bad of a place to end up 😉
We then had happy hour in the hotel lounge, and we ordered apple martinis but they came out tasting more like lemons than apples. Gross. We laughed so much during the day, I wish I could remember everything we talked about.
After some snacks and drinks we played with Carter on the balcony. I would hide behind a column and then pop out and he would just squeal and scream with delight. It was SO FUN playing with him!
We had the sliders open to the patio for the breeze to come in, and Carter started playing with the flowy drapes and I took some great pics of it. In a few of them, it looks like Jill is wrapping up Carter in the drapes, but she was trying to get him UNWRAPPED, I laugh so hard when I look at them!!!
The five of us had room service and a bottle of wine for dinner, and I think I laughed more than I actually ate. All I can say about the conversations we had is “Heeeeeeeeey….” 😉 The five of us know what it means, and that’s all that matters!
Jon and Jill turned into bed early, so I walked to a Walgreens near the hotel before hitting up a bar infront of the hotel that was so sketchy, I actually called my friend Tim before I went in incase I got kidnapped or killed or something so someone would know the last place I was at. It was fine though, I made some new friends but left my newly purchased fedora there. Sad.
The day we checked out of the hotel and went to visit Jon’s parents. It was the CLEANEST house I have ever been in. My god. We played in the pool for a while and then Jon’s parents watched Carter while me, Jon and Jill went shopping and had dinner.
We got Icees!
The three of us went to a little Thai place for dinner, and had a slow, relaxing meal. After a few sake bombs, it was time for ice cream!
I LOVE mint chocolate chip ice cream. But it has to be green, not the white kind. YUMS.
We headed home later that evening, and played some games on the ride home. After arriving back in Orlando, and being off work the next day for a holiday, I met up with my friend Hal at The Hammered Lamb.
The next day, it was off to meet up with Adrianna and Christin! Omg, this day was INSANE. Five of us hopped in the car to Cocoa beach, and I got to introduce them to some of my favorite European pop songs 🙂 We also discussed why we all hate Rhianna. And determined that the song Xxplosive by Dr. Dre is just nothing more than random ghetto words put together. Go ahead, Google it. I won’t type those words on my blog! It was fun times in the car!
We also passed a guy in a Cadillac talking on three old-school flip phones at once. Total drug dealer. See if you can make it out from the pic….
Cocoa beach was PACKED. I have NEVER seen a beach so crowded! But we got a good spot by the water.
Then this happened….
Yeah, a boxing match. Right infront of us. The cops finally broke it up, and the huge mob watching threw beer on the cops! It was CRAZY. The waves were amazing too! We went up to the huge bar/restaurant on the beach for drinks at various point. They had a live band there, it was PACKED. When the band played Journey, the place went nuts, which led to the quote of the day:
“How do you excite a bunch of drunk white people? Play Journey.”
We laid out for awhile, then we went back to the restaurant for food, and then stayed on the beach for a bit more. Until a fight broke out. RIGHT NEXT TO US. These two girls were just pulling hair, rolling in the sand, INSANITY. We were like, OK time to go! So, what do we do when we get back in to town? We go to Wally’s. I wasn’t driving, so I had to go wherever I was taken, but Wally’s? Omg, what are we, alcoholics?!
We made new friends, and played amazing tunes on the jukebox. Some of us even switched tank tops we were wearing with our new bar friends, because apparently that was a fun idea at the time. Some of us got numbers written on our hands by people who wanted to date us. Some of us made out with people we just met. Which of us did what, you ask? I will leave that up to your imagination. It was truly the craziest day ever.
We all went back to Adrianna’s and ordered pizza, and our crazy beach day was over. A typical weekend in my life!
Tuesday and Wednesday nights were low key nights at home.
Tomorrow, I get to see my favorite comedy show/troupe perform! Impractical Jokers will be performing tomorrow night at Universal Studios at The Hard Rock, and I have a Meet & Greet ticket! I am SO EXCITED to meet them, especially my favorite one, Murr!
Today was a just a ho-hum day at the office. But I did buy some new Happy Socks!
I got a couple of the professional photos taken at my buddy Jon’s First Fest 2013 (there was a blog entry on this event). Check them out! They turned out so good!
Now back to my milk and cookies.
Goodnight disco stars, wishing you champagne wishes and caviar dreams.
